An L.A. State of Mind

It occurred to me today as I made one of my frequent left hand turns out of Taco Bell onto Vine that perhaps I had become too much of an LA driver.

Halfway through the turn, with a car fast-approaching in the northbound lane and another in the southbound, I found myself pulling an Earnhardt-like shift and squeezing into the turn lane between the two cars thinking, “Perhaps my old ‘It’s clear and safe to turn’ philosophy was a little better than my current ‘I can probably avoid an accident if I go now’ frame of mind. At the very least I wouldn’t have Baja Blast all over my passenger seat.”
